Life...

I just returned from a 3 day stay on Catalina Island with 27 7th graders where apparently one of the highlights was my rendition of "Pants on the Ground" performed during our "what not to do skit". Tomorrow I'm heading to Disneyland before my annual pass expires (even though I'll probably just renew it!). Last night the only movie I truly wanted to watch was 101 Dalmations.... would you believe I am one week away from turning 30? :)

Before you become concerned about Peter Pan syndrome let me fill you in on the rest of life...

My job: My heart towards my job as a teacher is that it is a full-time ministry. I am blessed to serve in other ministries as well but I believe this is my first area of service and calling at this time in my life.

A typical day for me looks like this: Wake up...(it's early!), get to school by 7am which is one hour before classes start so I can prep for the day and in part just to have a little peace and quiet in my classroom. Teach 6 different periods, 4 subjects straight from 8am to 1:45pm. At 2:35pm I sit by a door to fulfill my "door duty" which sometimes feels like a waste of time until the 1st graders come out and give me hugs and call me nicknames and show me what they did in school that day, I have to admit it makes the 25 "wasted" minutes worth it. 3:05pm Head back to my classroom to grade, prep, organize, attend meetings. Leave school usually between 4 and 5pm arms loaded with books, bag filled with the rest of the assignments I have yet to grade and head home to work some more.

... I wrote several more paragraphs yesterday and they got deleted when I tried to post the blog :(
... I didn't go to Disneyland today, not a huge surprise since normally when I plan to go I don't end up going. I really felt God saying "be thankful even though you're disappointed, I have a plan". So I chose to be thankful and headed to church...what an incredible surprise I found upon arriving there! Bill and Kendra Martin are missionaries from Israel who minister mainly to prostitutes in Tel Aviv and they were visiting us this morning! I had only met them through email as Kendra's brother Tad attends our church and gave me their contact information, also my dearest friend Anja served with them in Israel for a season and they even know Darryl and Laurie.... so, though we had never met the connections were endless and I was so encouraged by what they had to share and the ministry God had given them on the other side of the world.

We fellowshipped all day together with other dear members of the body...so incredibly blessed!

Sorry...this blog has become very scattered but well sometimes my life feels that way too! :)
I think I'm just going to end here...thanks for reading and may the Lord richly bless you with more of Himself.

There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn." Psalm 46:4,5
